The “waste” that is produced and the “pollution” that is reduced are all environmentally friendly methods taken as a precautionary measure to ensure that recycling is effective. Green technologies offer new opportunities to expand the recycling movement. “Two-thirds of the steel produced in the United States is made from recycled materials… almost every product is now recycled.” (Fried 46). Pollution and costs do not increase when manufacturers process reusable products because it takes less energy to make products from old materials than when trying to use new materials. Buying recycled products does not cost more where “most green or recycled products are still less expensive than their environmentally harmful counterparts” (McVicker 94). Recycling used products “will reduce waste and protect forests and habitats from mining and logging” (Fried 46). Without any stable recycling program or recycling site, the future of our environment will fall apart. It's time to change and educate younger generations on the true meaning of recycling for the better
