Americans rely on the industry for compelling, family-friendly atmosphere and food. Some of the many attributes of the causal restaurant industry are past history, consumer and menu trends, and what the market is for the industry. History The causal restaurant sector has adapted to the changing habits and lifestyles of Americans. Some of the major restaurants that help define the industry are Red Lobster, Oliver Garden, and Cheese Cake Factory. They meet the general needs of their consumers: a family-friendly place, good food and a clean environment. The industry has changed dramatically with industrialization and globalization over the century. In the 1960s, the automobile and intercontinental highway systems contributed to the expansion of industrialization in rural America. Before then in suburban America it was common to eat dinner at home, it was a pleasure to go out to dinner. With cars, families could go to mom-and-pop restaurants more often. With cultural changes as women entered the workforce, more and more families had two parents who worked all day. The parent didn't have time to prepare dinner, so instant food and restaurants were an alternative. The interstate highway allowed for an effective mode of transportation and communication of goods and services. Food has become cheaper due to tree production processes and easy disruption. With the creation of food chains, like McDonald's, and a cultural shift in America, restaurants have become more common... in the middle of the paper... and Dine Equity will post a profit of $1.15 billion in March 2011. and a profit of $4.27 billion in December 2012. The company is expected to grow 14.20% in 2011 and 6.80% in 2012. Conclusion The casual dining industry follows the American model and now global processes of indoctrination and globalization. Indoctrination brought with it a need and a new lifestyle that the causal moderation industry stole with. McDonald's, Applebee's and many other restriction systems have adopted and become worldwide phenomena. The casual dining industry will continue to grow because consumers need easy meals and want options and excitement. The era of low-quality family-run restaurants is rapidly fading and being replaced by the chain restaurant. In the future, the expansion of restaurants, the culture and the originality of the themes will ultimately decide who will be successful in the restaurant industry.
