I often think about the components of a good leader. In every job I have had, or in every situation where there is a chain of command, I have noticed that there is a certain behavior or characteristic that is displayed with leadership. Consequently, one must consider whether these traits are learned or already developed. In other words, it can also be considered that a mixture of what has been learned or already existing qualities leads to the creation of a model leader. Furthermore, one can agree that there are some attributes in being a leader. So, what are the qualities of a good leader, leadership qualities can be learned. Leadership qualities can be learned and there are some qualities you must already possess. Even if some leadership skills have already been developed, what are the qualities of a good leader? Can leadership skills be learned? Then, use leadership as a social skill to develop emotional intelligence which will lead to the qualities that make a good leader. You could consider the attributes of a good leader. One could not imagine a shy, backward person taking the initiative to lead others and resolve conflicts. As you might notice, there are some traits and behaviors of a good leader. “Leadership as a social skill, makes people respect and follow orders and is identified by emotional intelligence factors, such as; attitude, trust, respect for others and reliability” (Singh, 2013, para. 1.). In other words, these are skills that everyone agrees you should try to possess regardless of whether you have leadership potential or not. When learning skills to master for the workplace, we need to acquire certain skills, so that we can function normally day after day.
