Environmental Degradation Have you ever thought about what would happen to the Earth if we didn't change our bad habits that have a negative impact on the Earth? The problem that is happening in our environment is environmental degradation. Environmental degradation began when the industrial revolution was established, when people started using fossil fuels to run machines, cars and transportation which now emits pollution into the air and has added more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and has had a negative impact on the environment which caused environmental degradation. The true definition of environmental degradation is the depletion of resources such as air, water and soil. These resources are important components in keeping us alive. Furthermore, the effects of environmental degradation are human health, poverty and loss of biodiversity. Due to environmental degradation, water becomes polluted by chemicals and runs away, causing reduction in water quality. All people around the world are defending themselves with water; everything you do every day has to do with water. When water contains chemicals and is polluted, it will affect your health by drinking it and Utsav uses it for cooking. Furthermore, poverty is another because when the land is not in good condition, it will experience soil erosion which will affect the growth of plants; which will affect farmers in certain areas. Another effect is the loss of biodiversity, environmental degradation that causes natural causes that affect species and lead to the extinction of species because there is nowhere to go or food to eat and their habitat affects. I did some research and found an article that supports my statement. Sonia Madaan is the author of the article and has studied environmental degradation which provides information on the effects of environmental degradation. According to Sonia Madaan, she states that "the effects of environmental degradation are human health, poverty, loss of biodiversity, etc..." (3) What we have done to the environment is giving us the effects of it to make us realize and learn something from it, but we actually close our eyes. To summarize, the effects of environmental degradation affect not only us animals but also us as human beings. It has a negative impact on both humans and
