Government Dictation on Our LivesThe government dictates so many aspects of our lives that it would most likely be easier to list how they don't dictate to us. In my essay I will provide some of the many ways our government governs our lives. Our government dictates who we can marry, what we can smoke, what we can put in our bodies, medications, food, etc. can do at home; for example, alcohol or drugs. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is even trying to ban fireplaces and some wood stoves because of the smoke they create. Dictating our lives began by busing children in the name of racial equality. Then came the mandatory use of seat belts followed by the ban on trans fats. We are now being forced to purchase health insurance with features we may not need or want. Slowly but surely the government is taking away our personal freedoms. It is sad to say that the greatest threat to freedom and the American way of life comes from our own government. They listen to our phone calls, read our emails, read everything we do online, and place cameras in public areas. They dictate what weapons we can have, what type of ammunition we can use, and how much ammunition we can purchase. . I think they should enforce the existing gun laws instead of continuing to add new ones. Let's dig a little deeper, the government dictates what we do with our bodies. There are many of these “public safety” laws that claim they were made to protect us, but in reality they only serve to limit individual freedoms. Some examples of these are seat belt laws and helmet laws. Seat belt laws may be the oldest safety legislation. Today, every state has some sort of seat belt law; some focus on motorists... at the center of the paper... right (the right that prohibits the enactment of any law that respects an establishment of religion, that impedes the free exercise of religion, that limits freedom of speech, that infringes on freedom of the press, interfering with the right peaceably to assemble, or prohibiting petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances), Second Amendment right, and Fourth Amendment right (the right of the people to security of person, home, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrant shall be issued, except upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized). Our government dictates every aspect of our lives by removing our right to make our own decisions. They could be labeled criminals, traitors and tyrants.
