Two years of work, countless hours of songwriting, guitar recording, recording, then multiple lawsuits from record companies and the end result is the masterpiece that is A Day To Remember album Common Courtesy. For most people, the entire genre of metal, hardcore or punk music is just one big idea of devil worship and ignorance, these misconceptions are so false that they are almost unfair. The detail and progression of the music in these genres is so advanced that it's devastating to musicians that most people don't consider it music. A Day To Remember is the pinnacle of what melodic hardcore, or "pop-mosh" music is, they are the best musicians and have the biggest impact on the scene and the world. In a world that only focuses on what Miley Cyrus does and in a genre that is mostly only listened to by angry, heartbroken teenagers, ADTR have been able to solidify themselves in the musical world and that's what makes their new album "Common Courtesy" a success. iconic part of hardcore music. The twelfth track on the album is “The Document Speaks For Itself”, this song embodies everything that A Day To Remember is and blends everything they have done with previous records, it is musical genius. Being a hardcore band, the instrumentation includes two guitars, one lead and one rhythm, a bass, drums and two types of vocals, clean singing and a "death growl" scream. What makes this particular song so unique is that it is a balance of everything the band tries to do in songwriting, it mixes their heavy side with a melodic chorus. When analyzing the form, it was difficult to classify the song with some of the basic forms such as binary or ternary, due to the uniqueness of the musical style as it repeats and changes, the form… half of the card. .....all over the world and it's a group of extremely talented individuals, even though their music is a style that isn't appealing, the way they manage to blend melody and dissonance is musical genius. The song "The Document Speaks For Itself" sums up everything ADTR sounds like, represents and is proof that they are able to capture the dream of making it in the music industry despite so many difficulties.
