Judging by the headlines, Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen seem to be more or less the same thing. Both have starred in major films, both are famous for their recent rants, both admit to using drugs, and both have had recent stumbles in their careers. Many people believe that these two celebrities are bad role models and that their acting careers will end soon. It is important, however, for people to look into these two celebrities in depth, because they are actually completely different. Charlie Sheen is like Mel Gibson, he just wins. This is clear when considering the numerous differences that exist. First, both Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen are known substance abusers. While it's easy to lump them both into the same category, perhaps labeled "crazy drug addicts," their methods and preferences are dissimilar. Mel Gibson is a self-proclaimed alcoholic (Judy Faber. “Mel Gibson Admits Battle with Alcoholism,”). For this reason, he blames alcohol for his failures. Every time he makes a misstep in his life, he takes the opportunity to point the finger at his addiction. In an attempt to overcome this struggle, Mel Gibson attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, but it is questionable whether or not they are having any positive effects whatsoever. Also, most likely due to his drunk driving incidents, Mel Gibson avoids the use of other drugs. Charlie Sheen, on the other hand, doesn't let alcoholism define his life. Although he was also an alcoholic (), Charlie Sheen does not let himself be consumed by remorse. Unlike Mel Gibson, he blames his successes on alcohol. When it comes to treating an addiction, Charlie Sheen sees Alcoholics Anonymous......middle of paper......w gets cancelled, his career has positive momentum. He is currently planning a comedy tour, called "Torpedoes of Truth", which sold out in two days (). It seems like nothing can bring Charlie Sheen down. Charlie Sheen is like Mel Gibson, he just wins. He is winning at home, on television and in the minds of the American people. Gibson and Sheen are similar on the surface: They're both unemployed drug addicts and happen to be famous. Their differences, however, far outweigh their similarities. They differ in their drug use, relationships, enemies and outlook on life. When people think of Mel Gibson, they think of a loser. When people think of Charlie Sheen, they think of a winner. That's the real difference between these two celebrities, and it's what puts Charlie Sheen in a class of his own.
