The Piano LessonAugust WilsonHafsah Hanif, Autumn Jones, Gracin Marquette, and Luis Soto3rdSummaryThe show begins with the arrival of Boy Willie and Lymon at Berniece's house in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Berniece is Boy Willie's sister, whom he hasn't seen for three years. Lymon and Boy Willie came north for several reasons. Most motivating to Boy Willie was his intention to... middle of paper... have Frederick change his name to August Wilson. In 1969, Wilson married his first wife Brenda Burton and they had a daughter soon after. The scene where Berniece says she wished Maretha had been born a boy could have reflected internal feelings towards her daughter. Shortly after the birth of Sakina, her daughter, Wilson and Burton divorced. Throughout this time Wilson became a poet but continued to evolve into a playwright. For the rest of his life, Wilson was quite successful. He won two Pulitzer Prizes, as well as a Tony Award, and married two more times. His last wife, Constanza Romero, was Islamic and converted him to Islam. On October 2, 2005, August Wilson died of liver cancer. Although he is no longer with us, his work will always be remembered as touching and relatable."August Wilson-Biography." Bio.com. A&E Networks Television and Web. May 22 2014.
