since the fall of 2013. In my first semester as an active chapter member, in the spring of 2014, I held the position of philanthropy chair on our chapter's executive committee. Even though I only decided to hold the position for one semester, I implemented a new annual tradition within my chapter: SeriousFun Week. Once a year, during the spring semester, my fraternity hosts a SeriousFun Week where we raise money for our national philanthropy: The SeriousFun Children's Network. Philanthropy involves sending children with serious disabilities or health risks to summer camp for free. During SeriousFun Week, my chapter focuses on creating the feeling of what it's like to be a kid at summer camp. After hosting the first SeriousFun Week in the spring of 2014, we were able to raise over $1,500 for our philanthropy. While in this position I learned the importance of preparation. In one week we held four major philanthropic events and one that lasted all week. Although it has been hectic at times, I have been able to effectively establish a tradition that will continue in our chapter for many years to come. The key to my success has been preparation and this experience will be of great help to me if I were to take up the position of Logistics Staff Assistant within the Safari
