However, this is not always the case. Poverty gives the individual a meaning in life and the awareness not to take moments for granted. Seeing someone experience an intense level of poverty is heartbreaking, but watching how they deal with the situation is one of the best feelings a person can have. Even if people don't have much, it doesn't seem to bother them. They don't grieve for what they don't have, they celebrate and treasure the things they do have and are proud of the present. In Peru, for example, most of the country lives in extreme poverty; especially in mountain villages, due to the lack of roads and the increase in altitude, it is difficult to orient yourself. The natives of mountainous regions do not have the delicacy of adequate building structures, clean water and proper medical procedures. Despite the lack of necessary goods, they manage to find happiness in the people they meet and the memories they create. Poverty does not seem to bother them because their focus is not on what they could have, but they direct their attention to what is within reach. Poverty helps people understand that trinkets don't make a life complete, but time spent with loved ones and making the most of a difficult situation are the true ingredients needed for a fulfilled life.
