"Immigration Laws" and its Impact on Undocumented Immigrant College Students The topic that will be introduced and discussed in this research paper is “Immigration Laws” and its Impact on Undocumented Immigrant College Students Living in California (2005-2010). This is a sensitive topic that is often overlooked and does not receive sufficient attention from government officials; meanwhile millions of people living in the United States are affected in their daily lives. This topic will consider its relevance to today's sociological issues such as education and politics as they are influenced by the development, structure, and functioning of socioeconomic systems/laws targeting college students, particularly immigrant and undocumented students . immigration has existed for many years. The first immigrants, from Ireland, arrived in the United States through Ellis Island on January 1, 1892. In the modern era, there are diverse immigrant populations who emigrate from their respective homelands to find opportunities and make a better life here in the United States . United States The idea of immigrants who immigrate here to the United States is to be part of an enriched capitalist society that offers them a larger world of freedom, freedom of speech, religious preference, right to own businesses, right to education, ECT… “The crux of the average immigrant's aspirations is motivated by the idea that one can achieve the American Dream through hard work and perseverance, and ultimately, hard work and perseverance are rewarded by upward mobility through the academic results of their children” (Kao 1). Many immigrant parents often make the decision to emigrate, not for their own beneficial needs, but to give their children the opportunity to be…halfway…settle my first year; I face many disadvantages, such as not being able to receive financial aid, not being eligible for scholarships or being eligible for loans. Students later tend to change their goals and efforts, ultimately leading them to realize different dreams due to the inconveniences of immigration laws. Every child should have the right to an adequate and equitable education, regardless of their cultural background, social position or immigration status. “The American Dream, which is based on the ideal of equal opportunity for all…Schools should level the playing field resulting from inequalities in family resources” (Kao 2013). No student should have to bear the burden of an uncertain destination. Sometimes they see friends making progress while their education is delayed due to various laws that hinder their path to success.
