The Pledge of Allegiance to the United States is like a prayer or oath taken by citizens to protect and respect the country and its flag. Children do not have the independence to keep the oath that people make while reciting. I believe that more than half of them act just for the fun of it or because it is obligatory and they do not understand the words in (Richard, 2006). I think public schools should not be forced to recite the promise but should be made optional. Those in schools do not know exactly what they are doing and are strictly under the guidance of their parents and teachers. Therefore, they should be allowed to reach at least the minimum drinking age or become adults capable of making their own
