Primary AnalysisPlot SummaryMiles Pruitt is a thirty-five-year-old high school English teacher in Staggerford, Minnesota. Over the course of the book, Miles falls in love twice, but his choice to live life safely will soon catch up with him. There are many things in the book that seem to make it difficult for Miles to live without “getting wet.” " He falls madly in love with the Bonewoman's daughter, Beverly Bingham. There's a little problem: Beverly is one of Miles' students. Wayne Workman, Miles' boss, is extremely frustrated that they've wreaked havoc at school. In addition to all the incidents, Miles continues to try to deal with life without letting life touch him Setting This story is set in the charming town of Staggerford, Minnesota. In the small town of Staggerford there is a school, a restaurant and the Staggerford Indian Reservation is the perfect idealistic town is the center of this story; he is going through life in an attempt to avoid the difficulties it places on him. He must face the misfortunes that come with love and, at the end of the story, Miles will finally understand that his decision to live life intact is not the case. it will pay off. Climax The climax of the story is when Miles gets hit by a bullet. the Bone Woman. The reader realizes that Miles' choice to live life on the safe side was a mistake: Miles opened the door and got out of the car. The Bonewoman, mad with fear, and resting her rat gun on the upstairs window sill, took aim and fired a .22 bullet that entered his skull an inch above his left eye. As she watched the singing, chicken-killing soldiers drive away in their jeeps and trucks, she swore to herself that she would kill the next man who set foot in her yard. In the mud next to the yellow Mustang, Miles fell backwards, dying.
