My journey with biotechnology started a long time ago. As children we are often told, if you look like your mother or father otherwise you will grow up to be as beautiful as your grandmother. But I don't think any child, including me, would ever wonder why people say that? Do we really look like our parents? and if so, then why? And I didn't have answers to these questions until that morning, when I had my first elementary biology lesson. When I was 10 years old, my teacher introduced me to something known as nucleic acid: DNA proteins, enzymes, which to my amazement were the answers to the questions posed above. I initially struggled to understand how such small molecules, like DNA, proteins, and so on, could perform such heavy and important functions in our bodies. But when my teacher asked me to build a model of these molecules and explain it to the class, I actually understood what they meant. And that's how I was introduced to the world of genetics. Although genetics is only a small part of the vast world of biotechnology, it was my first step into that field....
