“Love can change a person the same way a parent can change a child – awkwardly and often with much confusion.” – Lemon Snicket. Teenagers go through a phase where they change physically and/or mentally. There are many factors that influence these changes such as the environment, media, personal experiences, etc. One of the most common factors that give rise to these changes is love. Teens will rebel and change their values, beliefs, and character to be with or be accepted by those they love. Juliet Capulet, the female protagonist of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, is a good example of a teenage character who develops into a mature teenager over the course of the story, using her experiences and emotions of love. At the beginning, Juliet is an innocent little girl, very dependent on her parents. After Juliet meets Romeo, she slowly begins to change until she finally transforms into an adult, independent and mature character. Juliet first appears in Act I, scene 3 and is introduced to readers as well-mannered, young, and obedient. To begin with, Juliet enters and introduces herself by saying: “Madam, I'm here. What is your will?" (Shakespeare 1.3.7). With this quote, we sense that Juliet addresses Lady Capulet as Lady and is willing to come to her mother's aid whenever necessary, thus showing her polite nature .Later, Lady Capulet decides to talk to Juliet about the marriage to which Juliet replies, “It is an honor I do not dream of.”(Shakespeare 1.3.67) Juliet's innocence and youth are interpreted as meaning that she does not have never thought about marriage or other thoughts related to this matter regarding her future. As the conversation progresses, Juliet's obedience is demonstrated when she writes in the middle of the paper that Juliet's trust prepares her to fly away from her nest. as maturity, independence and assertiveness take over her character, it can be seen that Juliet's love for Romeo influences her to break away from being a shy and obedient girl into a young, independent woman full of wisdom and maturity. due to his rebellious nature. Juliet was truly a blind stranger to the world, as her father had stated in a conversation with Paris. During the show, he awakened her senses, allowed her heart to open, and broadened her perspective by providing her with joy, growth, and death. This is perfect to demonstrate that, as Barbara de Angels once said, “Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible: it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment and bring you more joy than any material good could..”
