My vision of a leader: he or she possesses behavioral traits/skills to motivate and/persuade the team; the team trusts the leader because it is Leadership Philosophy 3M.A. Monroehonest, you get your homework done and you're leaning forward. The leader leads by example: walks the walk. Leaders are not afraid to get their hands dirty. With all this, the herd or team will be more productive and willing to bleed with them… do what they can to complete an objective. I would like to say that I emulate this philosophy, but there are behaviors/skills that I need to hone: Asking for feedback on how my actions affect other people's performance (Model the Way). I will request quarterly feedback from peers and junior Sailors, through electronic means or meetings to discuss their thoughts on how my position could better support our command's mission and team members; Experiment and take risks, even when there is a possibility of failure (Challenge the Process). I have a tendency not to expand my range of experience on the subject. I will expand that radius and engage colleagues outside of my own
