Commedia dell'arte is a performance style originating in Italy that emphasizes pantomime, improvisation and ensemble acting, using exaggerated movements to accentuate emotions on a bare stage. Although the shows presented by commedia dell'arte troupes were improvisations, they were strongly influenced by the use of a series of standard situations together with very well-developed masks (characters). Commedia dell'arte masks have shaped the creation of characters from William Shakespeare's “Merchant of Venice” to Matt Groening's “The Simpsons.” Entertaining society at any age. Unlike most theatrical masks, or even masks for ceremonial purposes, commedia dell'arte performers wear masks that cover half the face leaving the mouth free. Since these masks are limited to the upper half of the performers' face, their facial reactions are mostly covered. Force performers to improve their voice and diction so that their tone can be easily understood by the audience. Although the half mask hides and reduces the performer's facial reactions, it can also help exaggerate whole body reactions. The mask worn will heavily influence the performer's behavior; his stance, moves, and reactions are all attributed to the mask. Each particular character mask has its own specific rules that must be followed. The comedy derives from street theater and was performed in markets and fairs, for farmers and crowds of simple people visiting such events. The characters of the commedia dell'arte represented archetypes. Harlequin is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable. He belongs to a series of four central characters in traditional Italian comedies: the Doctor (Doctor), Pantalone (Pantalone), Arlecchino and Brighella, the first two handsome...... in the center of the card...... He immediately he shouts irritably and removes the seed from his ear. This goes on for a few moments until Arlecchino accidentally hits Innamorata. Now you can get away with hitting the male romantic lead, but there's no way to pick on the women, after she gets hit she runs to attack Harlequin whose knees shake uncontrollably and she quickly runs off the stage. The Commedia dell'arte had a great impact on Shakespeare, whether comedy or tragedy, as well as many contemporary films and television programs, creating many characters we know and love today. This impact has arguably created some of the best characters the world has ever seen. Commedia dell'arte is a timeless art. Hopefully, this trend, whether on purpose or not, will continue to do so for many generations to come, so that the great characters we can relate to come to life forever..
