Zach Snyder's film Suckerpunch received extremely negative reviews from both critics and viewers upon its release in 2011. The film, repeatedly called "a teenager's forbidden dream" by critics, is said to you represent women in a demeaning way. Critics cite Snyder's choice of clothing and makeup for the female characters, his decision to set the film in both an asylum and a brothel, and his elaborate fight scenes in dream sequences, as tools used to create a male-centric fantasy of a female warrior. However, by exploring these "tools", the characters' clothing, the film's setting, and the various fight scenes, it becomes clear that Snyder's film champions female control and empowerment in an intricate and innovative way. More than any other aspect of the film. , critics refer to Snyder's decision for his female character's clothing as evidence of his superficial portrayal of women in the film; however, the clothes and makeup do more than sexualize the characters, they establish individuality and convey confidence. Snyder creates uniqueness in each girl's outfit to separate them from each other, as often happens in action films. Babydoll dresses, the youngest and newest addition to the asylum/brothel, in a short, tight school uniform inspired by Japanese manga. Matching her outfit with her white blonde hair, pale skin, large doe eyes, and short stature, Snyder clearly uses the costume to project the main characteristic that separates Babydoll from the rest of the girls, her innocence. This is further seen when juxtaposing her outfit against the darkness of Rocket, Sweet Pea, Amber, and Blondie's outfits. Rocket, having arrived at the asylum/brother with his older sister Sweet Pea, dresses entirely in black; s...... middle of the card ...... the baby dragon is sleeping or not threatening does not dissuade the girls from their mission by framing them as warriors who will stop at nothing to complete the task that awaits them. Snyder's Zach Suckerpunch is much more than a slow-motion mash-up of girls in skintight dresses wielding katanas and UMP45s. From the overwhelming acceptance of female characters and comfort in their bodies to the revisionist history created through multi-dimensional fight scenes, Snyder creates a universe that overwhelmingly showcases female power. In this universe women are complex and contradictory characters who are not forced to understand everything. Snyder allows the audience to see both characters display both ruthlessness, in the way they fight their enemies, and kindness, in the way they bond with each other, which isn't seen in many modern female-centric action films..
