In Oscar Wilde's novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray, beauty is described as the driving force in the lives of the three main characters, Dorian, Basil and Lord Henry. Dorian, the main character, believes in seizing the day. Basil, the artist, admires all that is beautiful in life. Lord Henry attributed physical appearance to the ability to achieve results in life. Beauty decides the fate of Dorian, Basil and Lord Henry. The novel embodies the relationship between beauty and morality. Beauty is not based on how attractive an object is to everyone, but how attractive it is to someone. Dorian Gray's life is dictated by his physical charm. Her beauty lies in her youth. Dorian's perception of beauty allows him to love. He believes that his beauty allows him to achieve everything he wants regardless of the consequences and still be loved by his friends. She uses her beauty to mitigate her evil deeds. Dorian says, “I wish to know nothing of them. I love scandals about others, but scandals about myself don't interest me. They don't have the charm of novelty." Youth and beauty are the most precious things for Dorian. In her life, beauty is of the utmost importance. Then he sees the image of himself, painted by Basil, absorbing his sins and this changed his vision. “I hope it's not about myself. I'm tired of myself tonight. I wish I were someone else," said Dorian. He aspired to have a good life rather than a life full of artificial meaning and beauty. Doran's moral beauty lies in the portrait of himself. The portrait imitated his life. He finally realized that beauty cannot help him escape his evil deeds. He deeply regrets his desire for the portrait to carry the burden of his age and... middle of paper... the ability to achieve anything in life readers learn from this novel that beauty is not the most important aspect of life. Today's society emphasizes the beauty of one's outward appearance a person's inner beauty and loving them for their inner beauty. Beauty, a powerful aspect of life, can attract attention but at the same time it can hide things you don't want revealed. Beauty can be used in various ways to influence one's status in culture, politics and society. Beauty certainly should not be used to excuse punishment for bad deeds. Beauty is associated with goodness, but this is not always the case. This story describes how a person's external attractiveness can influence people's behavior and corrupt their inner beauty.
