Gender stratification affects all aspects of social life and social classes. It refers to the inequality in the distribution of wealth, power and privileges between men and women based on their sex. The world has been divided and organized based on gender, or culturally learned behavioral differences between men and women (Appelbaum & Chambliss, 1997:218). Society is indeed historically shaped by males and the issue relating to this fact has had a public echo in society for decades and is now still an arguably hot topic. Men and women have different roles, and these sexual roles, defined as the set of standard behaviors and characteristics for each gender in a society (Singleton, 1987), are deemed appropriate in the eyes of society. Indeed they are correct, but as time passes, the mentality of women also changes, women also want to move forward. However, institutional stratification by society has become more insidious so much so that stereotyped roles have created a huge barrier between men and women. These barriers have affected women in many aspects, such as minimizing their access to a more superior position in the workforce organization, limiting property ownership, and discriminating against them from receiving better attention and care. Gender stratification limits women's achievements in their lives. In terms of jobs, women continue to enter a narrow end of the employment spectrum. Compared to men, women often face greater barriers to finding work because higher incomes and prestigious jobs are more likely to be held by men. Even in the workplace, men have priority for faster promotion. There is a case where women were allowed to be promoted to a more senior position......middle of paper......oven with the successful ruler of the Queen of England, the Queen Elizabeth and other female country rulers such as the legendary Queen Cleopatra of Egypt. Women's assumption that they always have to stay one step behind men contributes to women's failures in many fields. Gender inequality massively affects women, who are forced to prove that they are just as capable as men. However, by taking appropriate measures to address gender inequality, women would not be excluded from enjoying the same privileges as men. Various measures, such as making changes in district and state level mechanisms, tort law and family law, would definitely be a good start to break society's stereotypes and help them discover the revolutionary potential of women. And with a little encouragement, who knows, one day women may find themselves in the same position as men.
