nowadays many opportunities are offered to young people looking for work. Indeed, thousands of jobs have been created or transformed over the years. Choosing a path that you will follow for the rest of your life can be confusing and requires a lot of thought. One of the many possible fields is working in the world of law. There are several ways available, such as international law, where people work to maintain peace between nations and states with different sets of rules and where human rights are a number one priority. The whole world tries to accept these conditions, but even if peace is not always possible between some nations, a special and specific event usually puts aside all worries. The Olympic Games. For about three weeks it is possible to believe that the world is united and fair to one country over another. Athletes compete with respect and no prejudice is done to other competitors. Even though the Games look pretty good, it is the population that suffers in this equation. This is why the IOC (International Olympic Committee) is not committed to the fight for human rights when it comes to the people behind the pride and joy. First of all, the IOC violates children's rights and other civil liberties. For example, more than 4,120 families were forced to flee their homes and more than 2,000 were threatened with displacement during the 2016 Olympic Games and last year's World Cup.1 The main consequence is that children do not they are able to access social services such as education and healthcare. The Declaration of Human Rights clearly states that “everyone has the right to education”. Education will be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental grades. Elementary education must be ... middle of paper ... required documents and give them rights that the government and the people must respect. The IOC should care about everyone involved in making the Games happen because these people are one of the reasons why they are still possible. Finally, the remaining question is whether the Olympics are truly beneficial to the local people who host them. It is clear that many human rights are being violated and that even if the IOC claims to be involved in the fight for human rights, there is a lot of talk, but very little action. Speaking of action, way back in 1967, an American organization was created that decided to fight racism. It was called the “Olympic Project for Human Rights” and boycotted the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. Initiatives like this can have a huge impact on how people view the Games and could lead to reform of the Olympics.
