In Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell expresses his theory of success through the 10,000 hour rule which is used to associate practice with success and the achievement of certain goals. He strives to influence the public with his point of view and hypotheses of successful people throughout world history. Gladwell relates to various historical figures and people of known talent and intelligence. As an author, Malcolm Gladwell believes that he is very knowledgeable and influential throughout the novel. Although he provides interesting facts and statistics in his piece, Gladwell is unable to establish credibility to this information. Throughout college and high school, he did not get high grades which altered his decision to go into advertising. After being rejected numerous times, he was later accepted for a journalism position. Its insufficient experience and capabilities contribute to its low credibility and trustworthiness. Gladwell aims to persuade or influence the audience of the importance of practice in achieving success while also trying to teach the reader new skills. He addresses society to capture his inspiring discoveries, especially young adults who aspire to achieve their desired dreams. It introduces the 10,000 hour rule as a goal to be achieved in your twenties or older. Gladwell compares the lives of professional hockey players, Bill Gates, the Beatles and Mozart to show their achievements in their later lives due to the amount of experience and practice they were able to endure. It states that with exactly 10,000 hours of practice, the expert level will be maintained in any given skill. Although Gladwell expresses his knowledge and theories about success through devices that exemplify logos and repetition of 10.00...... half of the card ...... and recognizable to the audience. Malcolm Gladwell demonstrates the use of figurative language including repetition and exemplum, along with current ethos and pathos in the 10,000 Hour Rule; however, the credibility of his sources and knowledge is not there. It uses successful people who have made an impact on the world by analyzing their previous lives and how they achieved 10,000 hours of practice. Outliers influence audiences to feel more informed and aware of the characteristics of success, including a more recognizable and comprehensive concept established by figurative language. Gladwell provides young people with an ambition, or goal, to achieve success in future generations. Outliers is a very inspiring novel that maintains many aspects of the practice through the 10,000 hour rule and will transform the way society views success in many more generations..
