His tone, mood, diction, imagery, organization, syntax, and point of view in his films set him apart from other famous directors. Burton's style can easily be represented in two of his most popular and critically acclaimed films, Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Burton ingeniously incorporates effective cinematic techniques to convey a poignant underlying message to the audience. These cinematic techniques fall into the categories of lighting and editing techniques. The relationships between high and low tones, as well as editing variations, highlight the director's elaborate style.
