Although Huxley's novel is set in the far, far future, his predictions will come true much sooner. Technology has come a long way and has brought a lot of ease to life. However, it comforted society so much that society began to depend on it too much. By depending too much on it, society has allowed technology to replace the use of the mind. In Brave New World, Huxley predicts what is happening in the world today and what will continue to happen in the near future. In Huxley's world, everything is based on technology and the people who live there are practically dehumanized. And all of this starts in little test tubes with embryos inside them. In this society there is a social class that everyone is manipulatively happy with. People in this dystopia learn in their sleep, with headphones in their pillows. “Alpha kids dress in grey. And then we're so much better than Gammas and Deltas are stupid” (Huxley 27). cause distractions in their future work. “The novel Brave New World shows that for a utopian society to reach a state of stability, a loss of individuality must occur” (Gehlhaus 1) The community of Brave New World does not loves. others or at least they don't show their love like our society today. "We had basic sex for the first forty minutes" (27). our society will not go to war for oil because it will use solar energy or something else that scientists will discover. Most of our transportation will be in the air, like in Brave New World. With helicopters and small planes the size of cars . All these predictions are possible and will most likely come true before or by 2060. Surely over the years we are becoming very similar to the Brave New World society. The society described in Brave New World is frightening for many. However, it may be more of a reality than just a thought. Society, which is us humans, must ensure that science changes to fit human needs, rather than changing the human race to fit science. With increasing technological advancement, this may be an impossible action to overcome. One day the world may be devoid of individuality, emotion, or free thought.
