According to an Eastern Michigan University article, "over the past decade, a total of twenty-five institutions have committed serious NCAA violations involving academic fraud, anything involving the written papers of university employees to take tests for athletes to pass courses without actually going to class” (Wagner, 2013). Some athletes are taught to cheat and that it is okay for them to cheat so they can play academic cheating and doping, but they are essentially the same thing. Academic cheating is allowing a student to cheat in order to play, while doping is cheating in order to be able to play better or in order to be able to play that athletes cheat so they can play. This is related to money as universities will get more money if they win, so if the best player is eligible to play then they will have a better chance of winning and therefore earning more.
