I will continue by mentioning your current position, what a Coating is, I will also give a brief summary of the characteristics of the different types of coatings. You will also be presented with a labeled diagram of a cladding system attached to a wood frame building. 1.0 TIMBER FRAME CONSTRUCTION IN THE UK In the UK, timber frame construction relies on factory-made structural elements. Wood-framed wall panels carry building loads onto the foundation, while exterior cladding provides beautification and protection from the elements. Now, depending on the coating to be used, it totally depends on the client/builder/architect as it is a matter of choice; it can be made of brick, stone or light coverings, such as wooden planks, tiles or plaster. (TRADA Timber Research and Development Association) The image below shows a t...... paper center...... tiles can sometimes break or even slip out of place. Below you will see a man fixing slate tiles on a wood frame roof. 3.0 IDEAL WALL COVERINGS The best wall systems are highly resistant to water, wind, mechanical damage and pest entry. They are reasonably priced, easy to install and require little maintenance, have an excellent aesthetic appearance and offer good safety. They also provide thermal insulation and have a long life expectancy. Most fittings only do a few of these things well. There are no perfect cladding materials.4.0 DIAGRAM OF THE APPEARANCE OF A CLADDING ON AN EXTERIOR WALLInternal plasterboard claddingB Vapor controlC Structural wooden frameD Thick insulation quilt without CFCE Cladding panelF Waterproof breathable membraneG Stainless steel wall anchorH Transparent wall cavity from 50 mmI External brick cladding (rewarding Learning)
