A religious experience is an event that brings about an encounter between God and the expert. It is a communication between God and the individual that results in an overwhelming awareness of God. As a result, the expert may undergo a conversion, believe he or she has received a revelation, or feel called to fulfill a divine assignment or spiritual responsibility. But one question that would arise is whether there is any strong basis to suggest that such experiences prove the existence of God. There is not just one definitive type of religious experience, there is a variety. These could be random events that are given religious significance, corporate and private experiences, visionary and auditory experiences, physical experiences (e.g. stigmata), supernatural experiences (beyond the natural order of things), or noetic experiences (revelators of new knowledge) .
