Have you ever done something you didn't want to do, but felt somehow obligated to do it? Peer pressure is an everyday thing that many people deal with. Every day people are forced to take drugs and drink alcohol, things they wouldn't do at any other time. This is a powerful and dangerous thing called peer pressure and children, teenagers and even adults cannot escape it. There are many different ways of peer pressure, such as drug use and alcohol abuse. People don't always get addicted to drugs on purpose. In most cases this happens accidentally and can ruin lives and even take them. Nowadays, steroids have become a widespread problem among athletes in high school locker rooms, professional sports, and some gyms. Most teenagers and even some adults want the respect of their peers, and when they discover that they can put on huge muscles quickly, they find it difficult not to jump at the chance, if not at least show interest. They see other athletes and classmates build muscles and get more attention from girls, making them more popular and even better at sports. The temptation then becomes real. Some bodybuilders take anabolic steroids to gain muscle mass and start to become addicted to taking them. Body building is a growing sport and more and more people are taking steroids and other pills and powders to help build muscle. They read and see other steroid users like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alex Rodriguez and most of the NFL. They constantly hear about… half of the card… they love your ability to make your own choices, they understand who you are as a unique and special individual, there is only one of you, they introduce you to positive things like interests, music and friends . Peer pressure can be tough but it can also be prevented. Peer pressure is the feeling of being influenced to do something you wouldn't normally do because your peers are doing it. It's all in your head and only you can prevent it. Don't fall for words like "come on, don't be weak", "you're a chicken", "you're a child! Be strong and don't fall into peer pressure.
