When I look at Robert's character, I can't help but think of the yin-yang symbol. The symbol shows the symbiotic relationship between good and evil together that is life. There is good in the bad and bad in the good. In terms of Robert, he is not his grandfather, when in his Hyde form Robert maintains his morals. Hyde is apparently a more interesting character than Jekyll and we tend to root for the "dark side" more often. Ultimately, like having two sides of yourself, each viewer will choose which side of Robert they prefer.
