Philippians 4:1–2 The big idea of Philippians 4:1-2 is that in Christ Jesus you will find joy that will endure. This is a time when the writer of the text had suffered many hardships himself. Paul, the writer, was put in prison for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He wants the Church to know that there is joy in Jesus, even in times of suffering. This reminded me of an accident I was involved in. One day my brother and I stopped to help some ladies change their flat tire. While we were changing the tire, the police came alone and asked us what we were doing. It was explained to us that we were passing by and saw these ladies trying to change their tire, so we stopped to give them some help. He asks for ID and goes back to his car. In about two minutes, four more police cars arrived on the scene. We were handcuffed and put in the back of the car. This was not justified because we did nothing wrong.
