The cheetah is a large, beautiful-looking cat. He is a fast runner. Because it cannot roar, Cheetah is not a member of the "big cat" family. It is very sad that there are so few alive today. The cheetah has existed for four million years. Fossils have been found all over the Earth, from Texas to China. About 10,000 years ago, following the last ice age, most cheetahs were destroyed. Some zoologists, or scientists who study animals, think that a few members of only one cheetah family, the A. jubatus, survived. Today it is called the "real" cheetah. Anatomy: Cheetah from head to toe This handsome, large cat has a body built for speed. It is long and thin, with a long tail. Its tail helps with balance. Its hind legs are powerful and the claws that grip the ground help it go faster. Black spots are sprinkled across its yellow, prickly fur, like pepper on scrambled eggs. The spots help it blend in with its surroundings, so it can't be seen while foraging for food. Its stomach and throat are white. It has black rings around its tail, except the tip, which is white and fluffy. The cheetah has a small head and small teeth. A fascinating feature is the black "tear marks". Each tear mark runs from the inner corner of the eye, along the nose to the corner of the mouth. The tear marks help the cheetah to see very far and prevent the sun from blinding him. Adults reach about 32 inches tall; weigh 80 to 140 pounds; they are about 4-5 feet long and its tail is about 28-32 inches long. Gender – Information about males and femalesThe She-Cheetah is just a little smaller than the male. If you could visit their homeland, the female would be the one with the little cubs following her. Cheetah Cubs - Meet the Little Cubs A cheetah has two to five cubs. They cannot see,...... center of paper...... Hindu word chita meaning "stained". Movie – Are you ready to “take a Cheetos break”?
