Initially, dodo birds were discovered in 1590 on the island of Mauritius. However, they were declared extinct less than a century later, in 1681. These flightless birds were found to have no fear of humans and were easily captured as a result. The fact that a small flightless bird has the courage not to feel fear of another larger animal demonstrates its fearless attitude. Dodo birds were overhunted because of their behavior towards humans, their courage and their merits which led to their death. Dinosaurs are also among the amazing extinct animals. Dinosaurs were very important and at one point even covered much of the world. That was until the Earth was hit by a meteor, which changed the environment and killed the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs were too resilient for anything less than an Earth-shattering meteor to wipe them out, showing their dominance and greatness as a species. Unfortunately, Javan tigers also fall into the extraordinary category of extinct animals. At one point Javan tigers were so numerous in Indonesia that they were considered a common pest. However, in the late 19th century, the rapid increase in human population led to deforestation and mass habitat destruction. This massive decrease in tiger habitat subsequently led to their extinction. The only reason Javan tigers went extinct was the literal removal of an entire forest, intrinsically proving that this tiger species went extinct in dramatic fashion.
