In American football and the NFL there are only 32 franchise teams that compete in the NFL alone. In those teams there are only about 1700 players who play the sport at a professional level. And getting into those professional teams is very difficult or almost impossible. And as far as players go, there aren't many groups that breed or create players for the game. In football there are thousands of franchise teams playing at professional levels. And there are approximately 300 million players who play the sport at a professional level. And many initiatives started by those teams and clubs to promote and help players who want to become professionals
