Topic > Compare and contrast high school and college now

I expected the facilities of college and high school to be similar. What I have found is that high school and college structures are not aligned. In high school the structure is very rigid, not very flexible and students follow the timetable without exceptions. This pattern began in kindergarten and continued throughout high school. The routine was the same five days a week with the schedule changing very rarely. The college structure was different and unique from day one. Your daily schedule is not the same and requires flexibility that you must adapt to or get left behind. At university, attendance does not have the same priority as at high school; in high school you are given a prize for perfect attendance. In college it is exactly the opposite, the university professor will monitor attendance but they are not babysitters. Students are responsible for meeting deadlines. High school teachers are required to provide the student with opportunities to make up work; you are under the wings of the teachers. The college is self-guided; the student must adapt to be successful. This structure is great as it prepares the college student for the real thing
