This crisis brings more racial inequality among Americans. “All groups have suffered from high unemployment, mortgage collapses and soaring health care costs, but African Americans and Hispanics started far behind and continue to lag behind. “In other words, the economy of African Americans and Hispanics was damaged before the resection. The resection therefore hit harder than the white. The real reality is that minorities are more likely to suffer due to the need for opportunity. Political leaders don't like to talk about race. “Democrats mention race as little as possible, even though minority voters are crucial constituents, because color-blind positions are much more politically popular” (Sanger, 2014). Political leaders understand this by ignoring the issue of racial inequality. They won't have to take sides. They want to be on both sides because that will bring more voters to their side. According to Reagan's studies of employment and real estate practices, racial discrimination continues to impact our lives, and programs like the earned income tax credit and temporary assistance do not reduce inequality. Furthermore, political leaders cannot push the race problem aside and pretend it doesn't exist because it will get worse. “Both parties should accept that the question of whether policies help narrow the racial divide should be part of the discussion” (Sanger, 2014).
