Throughout history there have always been people who try to seize power and use that power to control others. History shows that some governments abuse their power and use it in various ways against their own people. Both Stalin's Party and members of George Orwell's 1984 Party use their power against the people they rule over. The novel is similar to Stalin's Russia due to various factors. The way they have organized their department that controls which part of the country. Have the ability to have complete power over your people without outside interference. Also the way they used violence and propaganda to lure people into control. The novel written by Orwell is a warning against the dangers of totalitarian society, and if these societies are not stopped before they become too powerful, Orwell's novel will become nonfiction. In George Orwell's novel, he creates a totalitarian society structured by a one-party state that controls every aspect of its people. It provided a realistic view of the true dangers of totalitarian regimes that accumulated before 1984 and after. This insight was symbolized in the text of 1984, a novel written to help show the manipulation used by totalitarian regimes to create a pure party. The novel showed many similarities between the 1984 party, Ingsoc, and Stalinist Russia. Stalin wanted complete control, as “Big Brother” did in 1984, Joseph Stalin's focus was “centered on government control of the economy and included the forced collectivization of Soviet agriculture, in which the government took control of farms . Millions of peasants refused to cooperate with Stalin's orders and were shot or exiled as punishment. Even forced collectivization... is half of paper... much worse rules that could arise in the future if we leave dictators unchecked. As in his book, he shows us how those totalitarian societies take control of everything and create a horrible government of lies and countless murders to maintain power. His inspiration in creating this government came from the horrors of World War II, when leaders like Stalin and Hitler killed millions of people to try to gain power there. The actions portrayed during 1984 are extremely close to or even mirrored those of Stalin. Works Cited Anderson, C. "Joseph Stalin Biography."
