This is important to the passage because Socrates never wants to leave even though he has done nothing wrong. Crito only wants him because he is a dear friend. Socrates thinks that the law is always right and that one should never disobey the law. In this century, everyone thinks that law enforcement is wrong and should stop being corrupt.
