This result was not surprising. Although I have learned that my weakness, as a sensitive student, is my dislike of abstract material. For any future abstract courses I take, I will make sure to find examples that connect the information to the real world. A visual learner is a person who remembers mostly what they see, whether through flowcharts, pictures, films, etc. The downside of being a visual learner is that most college courses do not include visual information. However, visual learners can overcome this disadvantage by finding any visual information related to the topic covered in their college course. Another tip for visual learners is to color code your notes, using separate colors for separate topics. Consequently, contrasting visual learners are verbal learners. A verbal learner processes information better through written or spoken words. According to Felder & Solomon, verbal learners may be more successful when they write summaries of course material in their own words.
