When you see a trailer for a horror movie you expect to see certain things in it. These are called horror conventions. Typical horror conventions include close-ups of a character, thunder and lightning, and a large creaky door in an old abandoned house. These are things seen in almost every horror movie, as they create a scary atmosphere and are easy to do. Music and sound effects are very useful for horror films. Generally the music they use is jarring and disturbing.
