Topic > My aspiration to build a career in pediatric nursing

On average, over 250 babies are born every minute and 3% - 4% are born with health problems. My goal is to play an active role in our future society by supporting disadvantaged children to have a fair chance in life or as close to that chance as possible with the help of myself and other future nurses. Growing up in a large family, with many young children running around, I developed a passion for caring for children and supporting their well-being. They called me the "monster child." Having the talent to understand the needs and preferences of different children, ensuring they feel comfortable in the environment and ensuring they trust me as a person and as a pediatrician is a key role I play. It's a huge responsibility that I have personally witnessed with my cousin Medina, with her complicated medical conditions, including Down syndrome and heart problems. Accompanying her to her appointments was a revelation, like being in an environment where nurses work with compassion to improve a child's quality of life and take them to the next stage. This played a huge role in motivating me to pursue this career. Child nursing can be very emotionally demanding and several skills are needed when working with children. Nurses must be able to communicate well with both children and their families, without communication there is a major barrier between the patient and the pediatrician. Pediatric nursing can be a demanding and demanding career, but it is an overall rewarding experience and job. I am currently studying Health and Social Care Level 3. Studying Childcare has taught me that every child is unique and has different needs and preferences. Childcare has also helped me understand how to deal with all types of human behaviors and emotions and has an impact in terms of the quality of support and advice that will help me every day. Bonding is essential between the patient and the nurse. On the other hand, health and social care has taught me to think logically and propose reasonable solutions, as well as produce accurate records and make informed choices. Learning new theories and perspectives helped me expand my mindset and see scenarios differently. Being a pediatric nurse is not just about ensuring your child's needs are met, but also about knowing children and understanding them as more than just a patient. Taking a look at my experience will show my passion for working with and supporting children, and my commitment to pursuing children's nursing as my chosen career. I have chosen to work with children of all age groups, from 0 to 5 years, with different disabilities and health problems such as autism, Down syndrome, asthma, etc., developing my knowledge on how to manage situations and challenges that may arise along the way. I completed my work experience at the Loving Hand Nursery, where I acquired knowledge and various experiences with children aged between 6 months and 5 years. Aside from the work aspect, I have a 2 year old cousin who has Down syndrome, since she was born I have observed her growth and development with the different nurses and with her mother. While I occasionally babysat her, I acquired new ones.
