Topic > Personal account of a trip to Trinity Lake

TrinitySunday June 14th, a beautiful warm summer day, I got up early to finish packing and getting all the food together. I was preparing for a week of camping at Trinity Lake with three of my best friends and one of their moms. Jen and Jo came to my house first to help me prepare the food. We expected Kate and her mother to arrive around 8:30, but they actually showed up around 9:00. As soon as we arrived we all rushed to get our bags and load everything onto the Chinook!! (Mini camper Kates!!!) The coolest ride around! After getting everything sorted, we started our journey!! Well, we haven't started yet, we still had a few stops ahead of us before we actually set off! First stop was at a shelter in Rocklin, Evonne, Kate's mom had to pick up a few extra things to hold us over the week. Once we left there, we had to make one last stop at a boat shop to find the best subway for boating. We found it, a huge tube that four people can ride on! It was perfect, there were four of us and a subway for four people! What else do you need??? We left there around 10am and headed towards the highway! This was the real beginning of our excursion!!! Get an Original Essay Once we left the boat shop and headed out into the open spaces, we only had about a four hour drive ahead of us!! This was going to be the best trip ever!! We had tons of food, a tea. v, games, everything you need to entertain four girls!! Everything was going great until the last 45 minutes of the driving portion! We had eaten so much that I'm sure we all gained at least ten pounds from everything we ate. It wasn't really a good thing to consume so much food because we were now on a very windy road. For Kate and I it wasn't a problem, but Jen and Jo were a little nauseous. They started blowing pieces!!! Good thing there was a bathroom in our vehicle, otherwise we would all have been sick! It was extremely disturbing because one would be in the bathroom while the other was trying to keep everything in, then they would run to switch and it was just a crazy mess. Well, not literally, but just them trying to get around every couple of minutes was a little difficult because the Chinook only had one person room in the center, so it was very tight!! We finally arrived around 3:00 and I met about five or six other families. our group of girls shared a campsite with Kate's uncle and his crew! We decided we should set up our tent before anything else so we could set everything up and then head out and let the fun begin!!!! This was probably the hardest thing we did as a group, well it wasn't hard but it was very hard!! There was a cleared spot right at the bottom of the hill near the campsite, so we thought that would be the best spot for our tent! We didn't know it was actually the little hill itself! We had no choice, we had to use that place, because there was nowhere else near us that we could use! Apparently it was quite funny for the adults to watch, they just sat at the table above and laughed hysterically at us while we tried to figure out how to set this thing up! We really had no idea what we were doing. After 30-45 minutes of struggle we managed to get up! We didn't realize our tent was on this sloping ground until we woke upthe next morning!! We all slept facing the same direction with our bags over our heads because that's where the door was and we figured if a bear or something came in it would have to crawl into our bags before it got to us!! Nice idea huh?!?!? Well, not exactly!! We woke up with bags on our faces and feet almost sticking out of the bottom of the tent! That's when we noticed we were sleeping on a hill!! The next night we thought, hey, we can just change it up a bit and put our bags in the back so they would stop us from walking through the tent and we wouldn't get anything on our faces!! It was a better idea than the previous one, only this time we had feet or bags, but it was better than bags on our faces, so we decided to leave things like that!! So after setting up the tent and getting everything unloaded we decided we wanted to go out on the boat just to look at the water and see what the lake was like. Ron, Kate's uncle took us out for a ride! It was starting to get dark, so we headed back to the campsite so we could eat and then just hang out and do whatever. We had a wonderful dinner, nothing like what normal campers eat, it was spaghetti!! We were so full that we thought it would be smart to take a drive and try to get rid of all this food! We went down to the "beach" which was really just rocks and red dirt, but we walked along it to the pier and then went back up. The next morning we got up early around 7:30 to get out on the water. This was the day we were going to learn to wakeboard and we had to leave early when the water was calm. Trying it wasn't as easy as we thought. We all tried but Kate was the only one who succeeded! We were getting tired so we thought we'd just go tubing as it doesn't use that much muscle and we actually knew how to resist so we thought! Ron's boat was having trouble pulling us so we all piled into the Violetts, who are some friends of Kate's family! They had two tubes that could each hold two people, so that would have been even better because all four of us could get out at the same time and we weren't stuck in the boat watching! We mated and jumped into tubes and were preparing for the end of our lives. Kate warned us that these people were the craziest units ever, but we didn't really believe her. Goodness, he was right!! They had a death wish for us or something because they were going so fast I seriously thought I was going to die when I flew away! I was the worst at holding on to the tubes and was always the first to fly away!! Even though it was scary, it was the most fun I've ever had!!! We stayed on the subway for about six hours straight, taking turns. We went around 7:00 to eat and reminisce about all the fun we had today!! After eating we thought we should take a few showers, but it wasn't as easy as it seemed. The camp attractions didn't have showers, so we had to go to the lake and use it as a bathtub! It was quite interesting, we had to walk down this very steep hill to get to the water carrying a four person tube and all our swimming gear! Once we got down there, we grabbed all the boat seats we could and floated more than halfway across the lake to secure the raft to a buoy and started swimming! The water was so cold that once we shaved our legs, the hair was already as long as before we shaved when we got to shore! It was a very difficult task, but we did it every day, so last time we did it! We know what to do as well as we know how to tie one!!!!!
