What I learned this week from Module 6 and Scenario E is that ethics is about making the best decisions possible for people, resources and the environment. When we make ethical choices we eliminate risk, promote positivity, increase trust, drive long-term success and build a good reputation. Leadership is based on ethical choices. Just as in the book Ethics Project Management “project managers have responsibilities without commensurate authority” (Kliem, 2011). As project managers, we have a responsibility to uphold ethics in our team. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Get an original essay Every project manager should operate with honesty, responsibility, respect and fairness. All of these values are what guide ethical conduct throughout project management. Project managers should always use the ethical code of conduct and apply these values to real-life practice. This will help lead to the best and most ethical outcome. Ethics will always play a huge role in project management, but also in life. Ethics help us strive to be better people. Additionally, ethics will help raise future standards for projects and increase faith and trust in you as a manager. “This will help with future business relationships, help promote sound decision making, reduce project risk, provide a greater chance of success, and reduce anxiety and stress and ultimately turnover in projects” (Kliem, 2011 ). The first article I chose was Project Management: The Journey Continues. The article highlights how project managers take on the natural transition role. While project managers are committed to contributing to organizational goals, being a servant leader is not easy and cannot be done without a code of ethics. As well as helping maintain focus on the scope and project. This article discusses that project management has both advantages and disadvantages; the benefits are that management roles practice communication techniques and reinforce delivery, as well as helping highlight your team's milestones on a larger scale. The disadvantages are that project managers will face a lack of right mindset. This will jeopardize the entire project by making uneducated or irrational decisions. Getting Into Project Management: The Journey Continues states that mind mapping is to help you articulate a clear thought process. “Mind mapping is a wonderful tool that can be used in various scenarios to get to know a person and explain the process, and can also be used in retrospectives. Transformation does not need to happen the same way everywhere. Get to know others and who you are working with, bring new working techniques that bring out your personal point of view and perspective” (Soma, 2008-2019). It seems to me that mind mapping is a foolproof plan because it is a powerful tool to use to retain large amounts of information. Mind mapping will help equip project managers with their knowledge on the topic of their choice, as well as help them in decision making on project scope and ethical behavior. The second article I chose was What is the moral responsibility of a business leader? As stated in the article “business leaders have long recognized that they play a key role in promoting ethical conduct in their businesses” (Schmidt, 2007). We as managers set the tone for ethics in our organization and our projects. We also lead by example. Ethics are communicated through our words and.
