Furthermore, I understand that to work successfully as a nurse, it is essential to be reliable, dependable, build good relationships with patients and their families, empathetic, motivated, hard-working and ambitious. The Access to Health Diploma allowed me to gain interesting knowledge from each of the units we studied. Studying biology serves as a good foundation as I understand the basic functions within the body such as cell structures and their functions. I have always been interested in science and studying it in more depth, at a higher level, made me interested in continuing to expand my knowledge as I progressed towards higher education. The combined units of this diploma have provided me with a wealth of knowledge that will be of great assistance in studying nursing. The biological and psychological units work side by side to work well as a nurse. Knowledge of the subject matter of these units provides vital information to work well as a nurse, to have a good understanding of biological functions, and to understand behavior to interact well with both patients and their families. My experience demonstrating effective communication with children and adults is very valuable as it is important to be able to communicate information to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals. This is essential to providing the best patient care while working in a collaborative team. I am fully aware and understand that nursing will not be an easy job. It may seem difficult to work long hours, shifts and holidays; however, I view these aspects of the job as personal sacrifices that would demonstrate commitment and compassion. I would gladly use most of my time to provide the best care for young children and their families. I have improved skills such as communication, patience, goal-oriented concentration, time management, empathy, persistence, attentiveness, responsibility and independence while volunteering at a primary school and working one-on-one with children aged 6-16 as a tutor. As a result, I achieved an AQA Level 3 accreditation in 'acting as a buddy tutor'. These skills.
