The definition of a helicopter parent is one who is closely involved in everything their child participates in or who they are friends with. I had helicopter parents when I was little. I was never allowed to leave the house because my parents didn't believe I was doing what I said I would do. They never let me buy a car until I started college because they didn't let me have the freedom to go to football games or hang out with the friends I made in school. Whenever I went out with friends, my parents had to know everything we planned to do, when I would be home, and if I had done drugs or drank alcohol. They wouldn't let me have a job until I turned 17 and my job was within a mile of my house. I wasn't allowed to have social media until I was in high school. My parents made me give them the password so they could check if I had sent private messages to anyone. They also regularly checked my phone to see who I had texted and called, what apps I had on my phone, and if I had talked to anyone they didn't approve of. Now that I have started at Kilgore College, nothing has changed. I now have a vehicle that my dad had to co-sign for so that if they ever feel the need to take it from me, his name will be on the car and he won't have to go to court to get it. I'm also not allowed to leave campus unless I have their permission. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Get an Original Essay When I was in high school, they checked my grades every day and if they were lower than a B they would put me in detention and take away everything I owned that was electronic. Now I know what you're thinking, I could just sneak off campus whenever I want or just not come to school in the first place. That's where you would go wrong. They convinced my aunt to put a tracker on my phone so they could see where I was, all my text messages or calls that came to my phone, whether I deleted them or not. I lied to them a few times about what my friends and I had done. I know, it wasn't fair, but sometimes a person needs a social life. Children who do not have a social life are found to be financially dependent on people, unsure of themselves and suffering from social anxiety. Trust me, I've been talking since I live in a family of helicopter parents.
