Born on August 8, 1981 in Basel, Switzerland, Federer loved sports in his childhood, especially basketball, badminton and football. It was at the age of 10 that Federer began receiving coaching from Adolf Kacovsky. At a young age, Federer's coach said his talent was undeniable. Federer was also laughed at when he said he wanted to be the best player ever. At first Federer was a "hothead" on the court who wasted his energy getting angry with himself, but that wasn't the case until he met Peter Carter who helped him control his temper and is now recognized as a of the calmest tennis players. At the beginning of his career, he started winning again and again. In 1998 he was the men's Wimbledon tournament, reached the final at the US Open, reached the final at the Marseille Open and won his first title at the indoor tournament in Milan in 2001. However, in 2002 disaster struck, his junior coach Peter Carter died tragically in a car accident. Federer was devastated, the death of his coach was said to be a wake-up call, but he didn't dwell on it. Soon the death of his coach became the motivation to remember him and put into practice the advice he had given him. So from that moment on, Federer's short temper on the court quickly disappeared. A year later, as a different player, he won his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon. That was the victory that gave him the world number 2. Then, in 2004, he won three more Grand Slam singles titles, which he was the first to win since Mats Wilander in 1988. Keep in mind: this is just one example. In 2012 he returned to win his seventh grass court title, an Olympic gold medal in doubles but losing to Andy Murray in singles. Federer's goals began to slow down, showing his human limits and doubts about his performance grew. He was still recognized as an extremely versatile and all-round player. Due to his success, Federer has become one of the best paid sportsmen, however he continues to invest his money in numerous charities, even founding his own charity, the Roger Federer Foundation.
