Introduction In 1916, a Frenchman named Henri Fayol wrote a book called Administration Industrielle et General. As a former coal mine manager, Fayol had discovered four distinct management functions that he said were applicable in any industry. Today, these functions are still found in any industry or company in the world. The four functions of management are Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling. Planning defines the direction a company is going and how it will achieve those goals. Planning involves day-to-day operational issues as well as predicting the future and creating plans to deal with uncertainty. In most companies, planning is constantly updated and improved as needed in order to create better processes, and according to Yuksel, “SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis is one of the approaches used in the analysis of a company's strategic position. company as part of the strategic planning process” (Yuksol, 2012, p. ). Yuksol studied strengths and opportunities as benefits and addressed weaknesses and threats as costs and concludes: “The importance of a factor for a company depends on its simultaneous evaluation with all other factors” (Yuksol, 2012, p.). Using the proposed model, management can evaluate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and how these factors help or hurt an organization. Based on a SWOT analysis, an organization can use the information to create a strategic plan to alleviate weaknesses and threats. Again, the issue of continuing planning as conditions evolve is important. The article discusses how leadership training should be conducted and concludes that ethics training is not about introducing additional topics, but about focusing on ethics and not just the technical aspect of a leader's duties in order to develop a “leader who pursues what is best for the common good in ethical, responsible and sustainable ways” (Smit, 2013, p.). Transformational and Transactional Leadership: Which is Best? Discusses transactional and transformational leadership, in order to discuss what is the best solution for Taiwan's hotel industry. Both leadership styles have been featured and proven to be influential. Transactional leadership was found to be more beneficial in influencing organizational commitment, while transformational leadership was found to be better in the area of gaining employee trust. The study revealed that both styles are best used together: “Transformational and transactional styles should be used simultaneously to achieve the best effect of leadership styles” (Hui-Chun et. al., 2013, p.). The studio made sure to point out that the transformational style was found to be best in this case. Common leadership themes are targeted training, employee development, and employee empowerment
