Each system implemented will have some advantages and disadvantages. For the institutional repository there are some advantages that can be highlighted. The first advantage that can be recognized is stewardship. What is meant by stewardship is that the institutional repository assumes responsibility for preserving and sharing the digital document from the owner when the responsibility for the care and preservation of a digital document falls on the author of the document. The author may store the conference document, for example, on a computer's hard drive where it tends to become corrupted or attacked by a virus. Sometimes, without paying much attention and effort, some conference documents may become inaccessible due to obsolescence in terms of formats and storage media or information may be lost due to the poor condition of the digital file itself. By having an institutional repository, all the burden and responsibility of resource management has been transferred from the individual level to that of the institution. The entire task having connection with resources has been simplified by the institutional archive. When the institutional archive is established, the institution faces an ongoing financial burden for staff, equipment, and preservation, however, most institutions discover an overall net savings problem by centralizing functions that are currently performed in a decentralized manner throughout the institution. What can be said about institutional archives is that they represent an opportunity to achieve great efficiencies by eliminating or centralizing some activities. All jobs that can be performed using the same step can be performed at the same time without having to split it. In the institutional repository, the user tends to di...... half of paper documents ......able and have good storage capacity. To build an institutional archive, institutions must strengthen their services to maintain institutional support for the project. Currently, there are more than 1300 archives available worldwide and the numbers continue to grow every year. There are so many choices of repository systems that can be chosen as a platform to build an institutional repository. Each repository offered slightly different features to entice the customer to use their system when creating a repository. There are some criteria to compare the repository systems available in the market today. The criteria that need to be considered in a repository system are installation/administration, metadata, interoperability, content management, statistics, file formats and batch import, user interface, search system and support..
