The president of the United States, Harry Truman, believed that the United States could soon also be in danger of becoming communist. Truman thought that the presence of communism in the country would ruin the free and capitalist way of the United States. The Truman Doctrine was a speech given by Truman calling for Britain to stop providing economic and military assistance to communist countries such as Turkey and Greece.
