I always knew there were different types of therapies, but I didn't know there were so many different types of therapies for intimate relationships, and some I had never heard of. For example, I have never led or studied systems modeling, but after reading more about the theory I can understand its perspective and purpose. The two theories that I found most interesting and influential were behavioral models and emotional models. I have always been a fan of behavioral therapies, but I never knew there were different types of behavioral therapies. I never knew that there were some that focus on the perceptions and interpretations that underlie behavioral exchanges or others that focus on the acceptance or tolerance of behaviors that cannot be changed. Knowing that behavioral therapy also focuses on these aspects makes me appreciate this type of therapy even more. I've begged for this type of therapy in the past, but it mostly involved babysitting or training my dog. Knowing now that this type of therapy can focus on other things besides behavior modification, I would feel very comfortable using this type of therapy in a more personal relationship. I like emotional models because they focus on identifying primary versus secondary feelings and this is something I've realized in the past and need to start doing. I know it might be bad, but you need to get to the root of it
