Many people who use lie detectors, aka polygraphs, detect lies to see if a person is making a true statement. The real question is… Do they REALLY detect lies? Do they detect them truthfully? They were used to make people think they could tell they were lying. This information provided will tell you if they are really what everyone thinks they are. Before you know that polygraphs/lie detectors actually give truthful results, you need to know what they really are. Polygraphs are lie detection tests that measure and record indices such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration and skin conductivity as the person answers questions asked. Polygraphs are machines equipped with numerous sensors and a heart rate cuff connected to the machine and placed on the body. Sensors placed on your body and the heart rate cuff placed on your stomach will sense how your body changes physically as you answer questions asked of you. Sensors are also placed on the suspect's fingertips. While you are being interrogated, a piece of paper will determine your lies with a pen drawing on the paper your different rates from your body. Lie detector tests are usually used in crime cases, banks, investigations, companies and many more. They are used in crime cases to see if the criminal actually committed the crime. They are used for banks because tellers are in banks that carry a large amount of money. You have to trust that the bank tellers do not take money from the bank. Detectives are put to the test because they have to be 100% honest when investigating a case. Businessmen have to take them because legally the government must know that this is a serious matter and also that the test must be done legally because it can cost the bus... half the paper... Liars can easily pass the lie detectors. An example is thinking excited thoughts. This can help them be less nervous while answering a question. They may also do mental arithmetic thoughts, alter their breathing patterns, and bite the side of their tongue. They also say that sincere people can try these techniques to pass the test. Hopefully these techniques will work every time a sincere and nervous person takes the test. To conclude this statement, the answer to the question "can lie detectors truthfully determine truthful statements", is FALSE! Lie detectors cannot determine truthful statements. They are fake tests and an average person can pass them despite all the lies. These tests are not admissible in court and no one should be forced to take them because they do not always determine true or false statements. So if anyone thinks they always work, it's not true.
